Acclaimed Atila Pesyani, an Iranian actor and director, passed away in France after a protracted fight with eye cancer. He was 66.
We regret to inform you that the renowned Atila Pesyani, a vital and irreplaceable personality in Iranian theatre, television, and film, passed away after a protracted and difficult fight with illness overseas. The Guild of Cinema Actors of Iran stated in a statement on October 6 that he departed us and had “found eternal peace.
Pesyani obtained acting and theatre directing degrees from Tehran’s Faculty of Fine Arts. He started acting in theatre in 1978 and made his film debut in 1981 with the release of “Ifrit.”Pesyani directed over 40 plays throughout his career in addition to appearing in a large number of films and television programmes.
