In addition to publicly acknowledging that her 2017 automobile accident was a suicide attempt and not an accident, mixed martial arts champion Angela Lee also disclosed for the first time that her 18-year-old sister Victoria Lee committed suicide.
“The Prodigy” Victoria Lee passed away on December 26, 2022, and Angela Lee first announced the news on January 7, 2023.
“Six years ago, I tried to end my life. My car crash in November 2017 was not an accident. It was a suicide attempt,” Lee said in an interview per The Players Tribune.

The atomweight champion’s public revelation is remarkable because she had never before given a reason for the 2017 automobile accident that forced her out of competition.
At age 21, Lee was ultimately disqualified from defending his title against Japan’s Mei Yamaguchi in Singapore in November 2017.

Just a few weeks prior to the fight, Angela Lee was involved in a car accident in Hawaii, which resulted in her suffering a concussion, a broken back, and minor burns.
“It’s taken me a long time to get to this place, but I’ve now reached a point where I am comfortable and confident enough to speak the full truth,” Lee said.
