Geoffrey Gabel Obituary News: Halfmoon man dies following Clifton Park motorcycle accident.
According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, a tragic incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near the Shenendehowa campus along state Route 146 in the town of Clifton Park. A motorcyclist lost his life due to injuries sustained in a collision with an SUV.
Geoffrey Gabel, a 53-year-old resident of Halfmoon, was involved in a collision while travelling eastbound on 146.
According to a statement from the police, Gabel’s Yamaha motorcycle collided with a Nissan SUV that was in the process of making a left turn. The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. According to the release, the individual received initial assistance from passersby before the arrival of first responders. According to law enforcement officials, the individual was subsequently taken to Ellis Hospital in Schenectady by Clifton Park-Halfmoon EMS. Tragically, the individual was later declared deceased at the hospital.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Accident Reconstruction Unit of the sheriff’s office, as reported by official sources. In a recent development, it has been reported that Route 146, stretching from the Shenendehowa campus to state Route 146A, was temporarily closed. However, according to the latest update from 511NY, all lanes have now been reopened as of 6 p.m.
The scene was assisted by the New York State Police, Jonesville Fire Department, and the state Department of Transportation, according to the sheriff’s office.
