A two-vehicle crash on Wednesday night claimed the lives of two people. The crash happened about 11 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 13 and U.S. 43.

A woman and her eleven-year-old child died in the crash, according to Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett.

The victims of the crash on Wednesday night were identified by Russellville police as 34-year-old Jennifer Lachell Fretwell and her 11-year-old son, Austin Jase Fretwell.

The 14- and 15-year-olds from the same vehicle are reportedly in stable condition at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, according to the police.

According to the authorities, there was a 65-year-old in the second vehicle who was also hurt. One of the vehicles involved in the crash was traveling wrong way, police said.
