Chad Swanson Motorcycle Accident: Manhattan Beach motorcycle officer died after Wednesday crash on the 405 Freeway in Carson.

A motorcycle police from Manhattan Beach passed away following a collision on the 405 Motorway near Carson on Wednesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol stated that 35-year-old Officer Chad Swanson was killed in a multi-vehicle collision involving four vehicles near Del Amo Avenue around 5:15 a.m.

According to representatives of the Manhattan Beach Police Department, Officer Swanson was struck while en route to work.

ā€œAt this time, it looks like a vehicle may have been traveling at an unsafe speed and possibly conducted an unsafe lane change,ā€ CHP Lt. Steve Carapia said at a news conference on the side of the freeway that was shut down.

Swanson was ejected from the motorbike by what seemed to be a collision between the vehicle that initiated the lane change and another vehicle, according to Carapia.

The cop received CPR from the on-site paramedics before being taken in an ambulance with a police escort to Harbour Medical Centre. Following minor injuries, another person was also taken to the hospital.

Officer Swanson had been with the department for more than 13 years. He leaves behind his wife, three young sons and his parents.
