On Monday, January 1, 2024, Rose M. Burkholder, 80, of Platteville, Wisconsin, went away. There has been a private family burial at a later time, along with a private family service. Serving the family is the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services located in Cuba City, WI.
Thomas & Rosella (Alt) Farrey welcomed Rose into the world on April 28, 1943, in Cuba City, Wisconsin. She went to high school in Benton. On October 17, 1959, she wed Richard “Dick” Burkholder in Benton, Wisconsin. She spent more than 26 years managing the fruit department at Dick’s Supermarket until retiring in 1998. She was a Platteville, Wisconsin, VFW Women’s Auxiliary member.
Rose loved to take care of her various flower beds and gardens, and she was always up for a good, competitive game of cards or dice. She was an excellent home cook who prepared a wide range of delectable meals, canned fruits and vegetables, baked delectable desserts, and annually prepared an abundance of Christmas candy for her family.
Along with her sister Luanne, who had given her a lot of joy and laughter over the years, she also loved going to garage sales and searching for treasures. She loved spending time with her family, friends, dogs, and grandchildren beyond anything else. All who knew and loved her will mourn her deeply.
