Micki Tara Hegewald, 57, was reportedly declared dead after falling from a cliff close to Arroyo Burro beach in Santa Barbara. On October 3, 2023, a Tuesday, the incident took place. According to the Coroner’s Bureau, the cause and manner of death are still under investigation.
Authorities were sent to the scene of the event at around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday in California, roughly a quarter mile east of Arroyo Burro Beach, where they discovered Petaja on the beach suffering from severe wounds.

Despite attempts at resuscitation, Petaja was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Anthony Wagner, a spokesman for the Santa Barbara Police Department, told the Noozhawk on Monday that there was no proof of wrongdoing.
